Participation Grant Award
Information and Process
In order to be considered for the TRiO Student Support Service Participation Grant, you must be eligible in the following:
1. CURRENTLY enrolled at DSC and SSS and receiving a PELL grant (FAFSA)
2. Submitted a FAFSA application for coming school year (Spring Applicants only)
3. Have completed a 2-year up-to-date graduation plan (Associate’s degree) which is signed by an SSS advisor
4. Have a 2.5 GPA for at least 12 hours of credit (second semester SSS students)
5. Have a cumulative 2.5 GPA and completed at least 24 credit hours (second year SSS students)
6. Are currently enrolled for at least 12 semester credit hours
7. Exceed the required 2/3 ratio of classes passed to classes attempted
8. Met with an SSS advisor in an office appointment each semester
9. Attended SSS Smart Start and/or two SSS workshops each semester
10. Submitted a Mid-Semester grade check each semester you have been in SSS
11. Participated in at least one campus or SSS activity during the current semester
12. Submitted a Personal Statement wherein you detail:
a. your educational background,
b. your academic goals, academic and/or personal achievements, and
c. any barriers or challenges you have had to overcome or are currently struggling to overcome
