DIXIE STATE COLLEGE
Title IX Information
In 1974 Congress
passed Title IX of the Education Amendments, which prohibits sex
discrimination in federally-assisted programs. Specifically, Title IX
states: “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be
excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits, or be subjected
to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving
federal financial assistance.” In order to comply with Title IX, the
college affirms its commitment to the above-stated policy.
Dixie State
College interprets Title IX to include sexual harassment. Individuals
who believe that they have been discriminated against should contact the
Human Resource Office in the South Administration Building, (435)
652-7521 or 7522 (where access to an EEOC officer may be obtained), or
the Office for Civil Rights, Department of Education, Denver Region,
Federal Building, 19th and Stout Street, Denver, Colorado 80294. Dixie
State College strongly endorses the Student Right-to-Know and Campus
Security Act. State laws on the college campus will be enforced at all
times and adjudicated in a court of law. Infractions of Student Rights
and Responsibilities should be referred to the student affairs committee
under the direction of the vice president of students for sanctions and
probation. |
