GETTING STARTED AT DIXIE STATE COLLEGE

STEP 1 - GET ADMITTED

Before you can register for classes, you will need to be admitted to the college.  Check out our admissions page on how to accomplish this.

STEP 2 - APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID

Even if you think you might not qualify, it doesn't hurt to apply for financial aid.  The deadlines, steps, and forms are available on the Financial Aid web site.

STEP 3 - REGISTRATION

Once you have been accepted, you are now ready to register for classes!   Before you jump right in though, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • If you are a first time freshman, you should consider meeting with an advisor.  To set up an appointment, call (435) 652-7690.  Students attending in the Fall are required to attend a mandatory Orientation & Registration session prior registering.
  • Do you know your "placement scores"?  Your ACT (or SAT, CPT) is combined with your high school GPA to come up with a placement score which is used by the computer to determine whether you are eligible for such classes as Engl-1010, Math-1010, etc..
  • Not sure which classes to take?  Check out the the degree requirements for the program you are interested in.
  • OK.  Now go ahead and register for your classes!

STEP 4 - PAYING FOR YOUR CLASSES

You can pay for your tuition and fees in one of the following ways:

  • Online with Visa, MasterCard, or Discover
  • By phone by calling the Cashiers Office: (435) 652-7605
  • By mail.  Send payment to:  Dixie State College, Cashiers Office, 225 S. 700 E., St. George, UT. 84770
  • In Person.  Go to the Cashiers Office, located in the Student Services Building

Please note that Bills for payment are not sent to students.   After registering, you can see how much you owe online or by contacting the Cashiers Office.  Payment is due prior to the start of classes, and you will be charged a late fee if payment is not made by the 7th day of classes.   Non-payment will result in being dropped from your classes by the end of the 3rd week of the term.

STEP 5 - HOUSING

You can stay either on or off campus.  For on-campus housing and meal ticket information, check out the Housing Office Web Site.   Off campus information is available here.
