DIXIE STATE COLLEGE QUICK FACT SHEET

 

Dixie State College is a 4-year public institution located in sunny Saint George, Utah.  Started in 1911, the college has experienced continual growth as students have discovered the high quality education and scenic surroundings that make DSC a unique educational environment for students throughout the world.  The following are a number of reasons students have mentioned as reasons they are currently attending Dixie State College:

If you are new freshman:

  • Complete the online admissions application
  • Submit official high school transcript
  • Submit test scores (ACT, SAT, etc.).  If no test scores, the CPT (college placement test) can be taken at DSC or on your college campus.

Frequently Asked Questions

·         If I am a new freshman, do I have to attend freshman orientation?  Yes.  We will be mailing you additional information, but this is when you will receive advisement, meet with faculty, register for your classes, go on a tour of campus, meet other students, get an ID card, etc. 

·         How much does it cost?  2007-08 Semester Tuition & Fees = $1,364.00 (in-state) or $4,730.00 (non-resident). Most Nevada residents (and other bordering states) qualify for a discounted tuition cost = $3,047.00.  Note that the tuition cost is per semester, and is based on a 12-credit hour load.  Price stays the same until 21 credit hours.

·         Do you have on-campus housing, and how much does it cost?    Yes.

·         Will my credits transfer to Dixie State College?  We accept associates degrees (from accredited institutions) to meet our General Education requirements, and work to ensure equitable transfer.

·         If I am from out of state, how do I qualify for residency?  Beginning July 1, 2007, students must live in Utah for one consecutive year and show evidence of permanency and independence (UT drivers license, UT vehicle registration, pay stubs, not counted a dependent on parent’s tax returns for previous year, etc.)  

·         How do I apply for a scholarship?  When you apply, you will automatically be considered for academic scholarships (based on GPA, test scores).  You may also be eligible for talent scholarships or other assistance, such as out-of-state tuition waivers.  Contact the Scholarship Office at (435) 652-7578.

·         Do you have out of-state scholarships?  Yes.  In addition to academic scholarships, we also offer border waivers, and participate with the WUE (Western Undergraduate Exchange).  Call above #.
