ART 1010 - Introduction to Art

WELCOME TO THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF ART IN CYBERSPACE.

Greetings, my name is Patty Bingham, I will be your tour guide and instructor for this course.

Before we can blast off into the marvelous world of Art in cyberspace, let me reassure you that online learning has many of the similarities as the traditional classroom…but there are some differences that can be challenging.  During the next 15 weeks, I will be there every step of the way to make certain that your journey is a successful and pleasant one.   So hold on tight, because you are in for a ride of your life as we blast off into the awesome and amazing world of art.

In this course we will explore not only the lives and paintings of famous artists, but we will study sculpture, camera arts, graphic design, ancient and modern architecture.  We will explore together earliest pyramids of Egypt, the Wall of China, and the Sistine Chapel in Rome.  You will marvel of how art has changed over the ages and how some of it has never changed.  We will be taking this trip together, so I look forward to learning and conversing with you.

This course will be conducted through the internet, on a Web program called WebCT Vista.  To log on to this online course you will have to go to http://www.dixie.edu/online/vista/ Before you can log on to this course, make sure you know your USERNAME AND PASSWORD. The usernames and passwords won't be active until the beginning of the semester.  You must have access to a computer with internet access and these computer specifications.   If you are close to campus you will be able to use the College's computer lab.  Since this online course has several multimedia clips, you will need to download the (Free) drivers on the computer specifications webpage.
