Dixie State University Announces Temporary Construction Closure
06/11/2013 - Dixie State University announced Monday the temporary closure of the 700 East entrance to the Eccles Fine Arts Center beginning next week for reconstruction. The DSU Eccles Fine Arts Center will remain open throughout the project, as patrons and visitors may still access the facility and parking area at the 100 South entrance.

Dixie State University Appoints New Dean of Science and Technology
06/05/2013 - Dixie State University announced Wednesday the appointment of Dr. Eric Pedersen as the new Dean of Science and Technology. Dr. Pedersen will assume his new role on Monday, July 1, replacing the retiring Dr. Victor Hasfurther, who had served in that capacity for the past five years.

Dixie State University Tabs Dr. William J. Christensen as New Executive Vice President and VP of Academics
05/20/2013 - Dixie State University announced Monday the appointment of Dr. William J. Christensen as the institution's new Executive Vice President and Vice President of Academic Services. Dr. Christensen, who currently serves as dean of the DSU Udvar-Hazy School of Business and School of Communication, will officially begin his new position on Monday, July 1.

Dixie State Students Earn FBLA-PBL National Competition Bids at Utah State Leadership Conference
05/13/2013 - Dixie State University's PBL Chapter hosted the State Leadership Conference on campus this past April. The event was a milestone for several reasons, not the least of which was the fact that all the previous annual conferences had been held at a hotel or conference center in northern or central Utah. In addition, this year's competition marked the first time the event was held in southern Utah, and the first time it was held on a college or university campus.

Dixie State University's Dental Hygiene Outreach Program Receives $2,500 Grant from SelectHealth
05/08/2013 - Dixie State University's Dental Hygiene Outreach Program has been selected as one of 25 Utah non-profit organizations honored by SelectHealth in recognition of the program's continued community service efforts in making Utah a healthier place to live. DSU dental hygiene program director and assistant professor Patricia Wintch was presented with a $2,500 grant award by SelectHealth this past May 1, to further the Outreach Program's mission of providing dental hygiene services to the uninsured and underserved population of Washington and Kane Counties.

05/02/2013 - Dixie State University Associate Professor of English Dr. Stephen B. Armstrong has penned a second book on the life and career of acclaimed film director John Frankenheimer entitled "John Frankenheimer: Interviews, Essays and Profiles," (Scarecrow Press, 2013), which will be published this spring.

Dixie State English Students Shine at Annual Sigma Tau Delta National Conference
05/01/2013 - Several Dixie State University English students recently showcased their talents and abilities in creative writing and literature at the annual Sigma Tau Delta National Conference held last month in Portland, Ore. In all, 16 current DSU students and two alumni participated in the competition, which featured students from around the country who presented original research and creative work.

Dixie State Interim VP of Academics Dr. Donald Hinton to Address DSU Colleagues Meeting May 6
04/30/2013 - Dixie State University Interim Vice President of Academics Dr. Donald Ray Hinton will address the final President's Colleagues of Dixie State meeting of the 2012-13 academic year this Monday, May 6. The meeting will begin at 12 noon, in Room 156 of the DSC Russell C. Taylor Health Science Center, located on the Dixie Regional Medical Center's River Road campus at 1526 Medical Center Drive. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Dixie State University DECA Students Capture the Stage at the International Competition in Anaheim
04/29/2013 - Twenty-three of the top "academic athletes" from Dixie State University competed against some the best business students from across the country and Canada at the 52nd Annual Collegiate DECA International Career Development Conference held last week in Anaheim, Calif. In all, nearly 1,400 students representing hundreds of colleges and universities went head-to-head to test their knowledge and presentation skills in various business categories over the three-day event.
