Dixie State courses are currently being offered in two Learning Management Systems - Blackboard Vista and Canvas. Dixie State is currently moving to the new Learning Management Systems - Canvas. Throughout the 2011-2012 school year, courses will be found on either Blackboard Vista or Canvas, depending on what the instructor chooses. This means you will need to discover which LMS your instructor is using this semester, as this transition process continues.

Instructure Canvas Migration
Dixie State College, in connection with the Utah System of Higher Education Consortium, is excited to announce Canvas as its new learning management system. Canvas will replace Blackboard Vista for online learning activities and course content. All courses currently hosted in Blackboard Vista will be moved to Canvas by June 30, 2012.
Dixie’s Canvas Migration Timeline
July 2011 – Begin Canvas introductory faculty trainings
Fall Semester 2011 – Begin pilot courses (Limited courses will be offered in Canvas)
Spring Semester 2012 – The majority of DSC courses should be moved and being offered through Canvas. (This will be the last semester that Blackboard Vista will be used at DSC, Faculty will need to move their courses content into the new Canvas system.)
Summer Semester 2012 – All DSC courses will be transitioned and on Canvas. (Blackboard Vista will be unavailable to teach with and will only be used for grade challenges and content retrieval.)
June 30, 2012 – The Blackboard Vista license expires.
