7-6 INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT RESEARCH

6.1 PURPOSE

To assign responsibility for the establishment and maintenance of a timely and relevant development research program in the Office of Institutional Advancement.

6.2 RESEARCH RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE OFFICE OF INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT

6.2.1 The Office of Institutional Advancement, will develop, coordinate, and maintain a comprehensive information-gathering system that will serve as the core of the college's efforts to identify, cultivate, and sustain favorable relationships with donors and potential donors to the college.

6.2.2 The Executive Director will specifically assign a member of the Office of Institutional Advancement to:

6.2.2.1 Develop and maintain the V.I.P. files on donors or potential donors of $100,000 or more.

6.2.2.2 Study local and national foundations to determine their funding patterns, their associations with the college and their likelihood of funding college programs, so that appropriate proposals can be submitted to these organizations.

6.2.2.3 Study local and national corporations to determine their funding patterns, associations with the college, directors who are known to the college, and the likelihood of funding college programs, to increase support to the institution from these companies.

6.2.2.4 Compile and maintain a list of volunteer nominees to serve in leadership capacities for the college's fund-raising programs.

6.2.2.5 Establish and maintain a gift-tracking program so that donors are kept informed about the long-term benefits of their support and will continue to increase their generosity to the college.

6.2.2.6 Maintain and supervise the reference library of the Office of Institutional Advancement so that both tested and new ideas regarding such areas as annual giving, foundation proposals, phone-a-thons, major campaigns, deferred giving programs, development publications, and matching gifts programs can be infused continuously into the fund raising activities of the college.

6.2.2.7 Convert the institutional advancement research program into a word processor system so that the data collected by the Office of Institutional Advancement can be put to more productive use.

6.2.2.8 Determine and maintain accurate information on the application and funding requirements of individuals, foundations, corporations, and other charitable organizations to ensure that the regulations are complied with by the college.

6.2.2.9 Counsel principal investigators and advancement directors on the format and content of development proposals.

6.2.2.10 Maintain copies of and coordinate the submission of all development proposals from the college to individuals, corporations, and foundations.

6.2.2.11 Maintain a file of development proposal ideas which can be made available to potential donors upon their inquiries.

6.2.2.12 Other appropriate duties as assigned.
