7-5 FEASIBILITY STUDIES

5.1 PURPOSE

To set forth when fund-raising feasibility studies are to be conducted.

5.2 POLICY

5.2.1 No fund-raising campaign will be undertaken until a formal feasibility study has been conducted by the Office of Institutional Advancement. The results of that study will confirm worthy prospects. The study will be preceded by the preparation of a case statement that includes specific cost estimates regarding the proposed development project.

5.2.2 The purpose of the study will be to ascertain whether the contemplated campaign will be supported by the donor population. The study will identify challenge gifts that amount to 30 to 40 percent of the total campaign, and, where a volunteer organization is projected, it will also identify the prospective campaign chairman and other volunteer leaders.

5.2.3 It will be the responsibility of the Office of Institutional Advancement to conduct, supervise and coordinate any such feasibility studies.

5.2.4 The cost of the feasibility study is to be borne by the college, department, or unit proposing the campaign.
