Policy: BLOOD BORNE PATHOGENS

6-82 BLOOD BORNE PATHOGENS

82.1 Purpose: To provide policy regarding BLOOD BORNE pathogen exposure as an action plan to guide the Administration and/or assigned personnel in pathogen exposure education, control and procedure regarding exposure incidents occurring in Dixie State College facilities or the Campus property.

82.2 BLOOD BORNE Pathogens are:

82.2.1 Human blood, components and products made from human blood;

82.2.2 Microorganisms that are present in human blood that can cause disease.

82.3 It is the policy of Dixie State College to:

82.3.1 Provide a written exposure control Plan which will comply with 29 Code of Federal Regulation (CFR) 1910.1030 BLOOD BORNE Pathogens Standard, 6 March 1992, for review by employees and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance officers.

82.3.2 Make the written plan available at the Physical Plant Office and at each College building as an attachment to the existing Material Safety Data Sheet plan and document books.
