5-38 CAMPUS PUBLICATIONS
38.1 Campus publications consist of the college newspaper (Dixie Sun), college yearbook, student handbook, catalog, class schedule, and various other publications dealing with academic and technical programs, public relations, and school relations.
38.2 The yearbook and newspaper are under the supervision of the publications council which is chaired by the director of public relations.
38.2.1 Candidates for the positions of newspaper and yearbook editors are identified by a call for applications from the student-body (in the newspaper) within certain time guidelines, usually spring semester.
38.2.2 Applications are reviewed and the editors are selected by the publications council after interviews, credentials, and academic performance are evaluated.
38.2.3 Editors will be selected spring semester prior to commencement exercises.
188.8.131.52 Editorial discretion and philosophy are the responsibility of the publications council. Should controversial issues come before the student body, it will be the duty of the publications council to determine the appropriate editorial position of Dixie State College student publications.
38.3 The director of student activities is responsible for the student handbook which is given to every student each year.
38.4 The vice president of academics is responsible for publishing the college catalog and semester class schedules.
38.5 Other promotional publications and brochures are published under the direction of the director of public relations.
