POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

 

Position:            CAMPUS SECURITY OFFICER

                        (Entry Level Law Enforcement Position)

 

Responsibilities:

 

·        Ensure safety of persons and property by conducting foot patrol, vehicle patrol and building security.

·        Responsible to provide V.I.P. security and work special events.

·        Duties include public safety, crime prevention, and law enforcement.

·        Respond to emergency calls, conduct investigations, parking enforcement, and write reports as necessary.

·        Enforce campus rules, St. George City ordinances, and Utah State Laws.

·        Make arrests and testify in court as necessary.

·        Shift schedule rotation at the beginning of each semester (August, January, and May)

 

Qualifications:

 

·        Category I Certificate required; recent police academy graduate preferred (current academy cadets may be considered with certification pending).

·        EMT certification preferred.

·        Two years of college education or equivalent technical training preferred.

·        Good judgement, quick responses, physical agility, and good driving skills.

·        Ability to work in a stressful environment, such as crowd control situations, accident scenes, etc., and in various conditions such as temperature and weather extremes.

·        Ability to take and receive orders and criticism, and to work long hours under emergency situations.

·        Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, college employees, and the public.

 

Terms of Contract: Full time (12 months) position.  Beginning salary range $29,000 to $31,000, dependent upon qualifications.  Excellent benefits.
