POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

 

Position:                   Program Director for Dixie Radio and Television

 

The Program Director’s overall responsibility will be to maintain the diversity and quality of on-air programming for student media broadcast outlets, while meeting the college and community needs.  Adhere to the guidelines and policies set forth by the Dixie State Student Media Council (SMC).

 

Responsibilities:

 

·        Manage schedules for the radio and television station.

·        Develop new programming, including non-musical areas (e.g. news).

·        Facilitate cooperative sharing and development of programming with Dixie State College, the Community Education Channel (DTV) and other media outlets,

·        Responsible for recruiting volunteer producers and on-air talent for all stations.

·        Responsible for training student volunteers on equipment and station operations.

·        Responsible for periodically gathering community input on programming.

·        Maintain all necessary licenses with the FCC, ASCAP/BMI, and other appropriate agencies.

·        Listen to the station’s programs as much as possible to ensure the regulation of quality programming.

·        Assist in on-air fund raising activities.

·        Supervise all student editors and producers in the performance of their responsibilities, including but not limited to music, news, sports, and entertainment programming.

·        Monitors public service announcements, advertising traffic, billing, and station website maintenance.

·        Market the program schedule to the college community and appropriate surrounding communities.

·        Establish a programming vision in conjunction with the Student Media Council’s policies and goals.

 

Qualifications:

 

·        Bachelor’s degree in related field required, Master’s degree preferred.

·        Ability to operate Broadcast Studio Equipment.

·        Radio/Television Programming and Production experience.

·        Experience in Educational Broadcasting Station environments.

·        Excellent Interpersonal skills and teaching skills.

·        Good verbal and writing skills.

·        Computer skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and software editing programs.

·        Familiar with a very broad spectrum of music.

 

Terms of Contract:   This position is contingent upon continued funding.  Full-time (12 months) staff position.  Salary is based on qualifications and experience.  Excellent benefit package included.
