POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

 

NETWORK SYSTEMS / SECURITY ADMINISTRATOR

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Design, install, administer, and maintain all networking infrastructure including core routers and switches, firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, access layer switches and wireless network devices.

·        Design, install, administer and maintain current Voice over IP system servers and routers.

·        Develop, implement and audit campus network and computing security plans and policies.

·        Coordinate resolution of campus IT security incidents.

·        Documentation of critical network devices and procedures.

·        Implement necessary security procedures to protect network infrastructure.

·        Develop and supervise networking budgets and proposals.

·        Coordinate and communicate with IT personnel including: IT Support Services Group, UEN, other higher education institutions and T-Forum.

·        Maintain and deploy operating systems and applications in all campus computer labs.

·        Deploy and administer network and telecom Unix and Windows servers.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

·        Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

·        Extensive experience with Cisco networking Solutions. Industry recognized network certification preferred.

·        Industry recognized security certification preferred.

·        Knowledge of OSI Model, TCP/IP Protocols and other networking protocols.

·        Experience with current network security procedures.

·        Experience with Unix and Windows operating systems.

·        Experience with and knowledge of technical aspects of Internet: i.e., web server, DNS, scripting, etc.

·        Knowledge of networking hardware and protocols.

·        Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

·        Ability to exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with staff, faculty, students and the public.

·        Responsibilities occasionally may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, and evening/weekend hours in order to perform network maintenance, testing and upgrades.

 

CONTRACT: Full time (12 months) position.  Salary negotiable dependent upon qualifications and experience.  Excellent benefit package.
