POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

 

Position:       Music Theory/Composition with emphasis in Woodwinds or Low Brass

 

Responsibilities:

 

·        Teach music theory and other music courses within areas of expertise.

·        Engage actively as a collaborating and committed member of the music faculty.

·        Teach 27 to 30 semester credit hours per year.

·        Participate in Service Learning/community outreach.

·        Assist in recruiting, advising, retention, and placement of students.

·        Perform campus-wide faculty duties, including holding office hours, attendance at department, division, and other administrative unit meetings, serve on committees, and adherence to campus policies

·        Additional duties as assigned by the chair

 

Qualifications:

 

·        Doctorate in Music Theory and/or Composition from an accredited institution (ABD considered)

·        Demonstrated experience teaching at college level preferred.

·        Must be able to teach a range of music courses and applied studio courses with preference given to woodwinds or low brass.

·        Strong oral and written communication skills that contribute to a collaborative working environment among faculty, staff, and students

 

Terms of Contract: Tenure track (9 month) faculty position.  Salary is based on nationally competitive Dixie State College faculty salary schedule.  Excellent benefit package included.
