POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Position: SYSTEMS LIBRARIAN / FACULTY
Responsibilities:
·
Manage the library network and provide technical support for all library
systems, both hardware and software.
·
Administer library Web pages. Administer Integrated
Library Systems.
·
Provide reference service, including evening rotation.
·
Collaborate with work study student supervisor to train and supervise
work study students in implementing projects within automated library systems.
·
Collaborate on offering workshops with the Instructional Designer and
Instruction Librarian to faculty as assigned.
·
Participate with other librarians in instructional sessions as
assigned.
·
Keep current with new research databases and techniques, library
technology programs, and Internet applications.
·
Maintain working relationship with technical support personnel on campus
to assure compatibility of library systems with campus systems.
·
Serve on campus and statewide committees as opportunities arise.
·
Participate in professional development and training workshops.
·
Provide digitization and institutional repository duties as necessary.
Minimum
Qualifications:
·
Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program.
·
Considerable knowledge of library science and information retrieval
methods; academic library experience preferred
·
Considerable knowledge of computer hardware and software applications.
·
Knowledge of computer networking, servers, databases management, and
file sharing.
·
Excellent organization, analytical, and computer problem-solving skills.
·
Considerable knowledge of Web page development and management.
·
Ability to effectively provide bibliographic instruction for students,
faculty, and other patrons, individually and in a group setting. Teach an online class.
·
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written.
·
Ability to exercise tact in dealing with library patrons on telephone or
in person.
·
Good knowledge of hardware and software computer systems used in the
library environment, including electronic library applications.
·
Ability to exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and
maintaining effective working relations with library colleagues, students,
faculty, staff, other libraries, vendors, and the public.
Terms of
Contract: Tenure track
faculty (12 months) position. Salary is based on nationally
competitive Dixie State College faculty salary schedule. Excellent benefit package
