POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

 

HEATING PLANT AND HVAC SPECIALIST

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Operates and repairs all types of HVAC/R equipment and systems.

·        Performs construction and remodeling of HVAC/R systems.

·        Assists in maintaining all temperature control systems.

·        Assists with repair and maintenance of computerized fire alarm systems.

·        Assists with repair and maintenance of computerized energy management system.

·        Operates boilers and assists in maintaining all other types of heating systems.

·        Performs and assists in minor electrical and plumbing maintenance and repair.

·        Performs and assists preventive maintenance including repairing and replacing motors, bearings, pump seals, belts, etc. and assists with servicing equipment and cleaning filters.

·        Performs housekeeping and color coding in all mechanical rooms, boiler rooms, tunnels, etc.

·        Assists with purchasing and bid initiation to be sub-contracted or completed in house.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

·        High school graduate and two years (or equivalent) of refrigeration and HVAC training.

·        HVAC Journeyman’s license and CFC certification preferred.

·        Highly technical skills in computerized systems.  Ability to read schematics.

·        Good knowledge of practices, procedures, work methods, and equipment used in preventive maintenance and repair.

·        Good knowledge of tools used in preventative maintenance and repair, such as drills, torches, meters, gauges, pumps, and CFC reclaim units.

·        Good knowledge of plumbing, painting, A/C and heating, and electrical work.

·        Ability to perform installations, repairs, and troubleshooting of mechanical and HVAC/R equipment.

·        Good knowledge of all Code Compliance laws, rules, and regulations such as: M.S.D.S, CFCs, backflows, P.C.B.s, asbestos, confined Space Entry, Indoor Air Quality, etc.

·        Good knowledge of safety practices and procedures.

·        Ability to communicate effectively in orally and in writing.

·        Requires flexible working hours.  Some evening and weekend work.

 

CONTRACT:   Full time (12 months) staff position.  Starting salary range is $35,000 to $38,000, dependent upon qualifications and experience.  Excellent benefits. A physical examination and drug-screening may be required upon offer of employment.
