POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Faculty Position: DENTAL
HYGIENE INSTRUCTOR
Responsibilities:
·
Prepare and teach dental hygiene courses including, but not limited to,
upper division courses for the bachelor’s degree program in dental hygiene.
·
Maintain desirable classroom and clinical conditions
·
Create, foster, and maintain liaison with dental and other community
entities, educational entities, and advisory committees.
·
Assist in student recruitment, advisement, placement, and follow-up
efforts.
·
Assist in the planning, scheduling, and coordinating clinical
experiences, cooperative education, and internships.
·
Assist in development of admission policies and procedures, student
evaluation, and retention.
·
Provide course instruction or clinic/lab supervision.
·
Assist in development and maintenance of an effective dental hygiene
program.
·
Monitor, evaluate, and assess dental hygiene students’ clinical and
instructional progress.
·
Assistance in securing clinical remediation, if necessary.
·
Monitor clinical case completion.
·
Assist with related safety and health protocol including bloodborne
pathogens exposure, chemical spill, and emergency management.
·
Assist program accreditation process as assigned.
·
Perform campus-wide responsibilities including holding office hours,
attendance at department and division meetings, service on committees, and
other responsibilities defined by college policy.
Minimum Qualifications:
·
Master’s degree required; at least one degree
in dental hygiene.
·
Minimum of three years dental hygiene
experience required.
·
Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in Utah
as a Dental Hygienist.
·
Successful teaching experience in an accredited
dental hygiene program preferred.
·
Ability to develop innovative curricula. Knowledge of subject matter, appropriate
course content, current trends and methodologies in education and dental
hygiene.
·
Knowledge of computer based technology as used
in clinical and educational environments.
·
Knowledge of dental hygiene regulations and
legal issues for practice and education.
·
Knowledge of infection control issues and
procedures.
·
Strong organizational, communication and
interpersonal skills.
·
Ability to represent well the Dental Hygiene
Program and Dixie State College.
Terms of Contract: Tenure track faculty position (3 semesters
per academic year). Salary is based on the
Dixie State College Faculty Salary Schedule. Excellent
