POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

 

Position:            DEAN OF STUDENTS

 

Responsibilities:

 

·        Assists the Vice President of Students Services in providing leadership, supervision and direction to student services personnel in the areas of admissions, registration and records, enrollment, advisement, career services, student activities, and student support services.

·         Collaborates with the academic divisions to develop, promote, and manage a systematic student advising program, including the development of academic interventions and academic support services, designed to improve student success.

·        Provides recommendations to the Vice President on the annual budgets for student services departments.

·        Develops and implements a student judicial system and serves as student discipline officer for the college.

·        Coordinates with students, faculty, administration, and security to effectively facilitate the resolution of student conflicts, complaints, and grievance cases.

·        Oversees the college’s compliance with state and federal mandates.

·        Coordinates and develops service learning opportunities.

·        Coordinates and supports student involvement and leadership opportunities, including student government and student clubs.

 

Qualifications:

 

·        Master’s degree in college student personnel, counseling, higher education or related field required; doctorate degree preferred.

·        Equivalent of five years of experience in counseling or guidance services program administration or other closely related administrative responsibilities, preferably at post-secondary level.

·        Highly developed communication and planning skills required.

·        Skills in initiating, directing, managing, and performing activities that fully impact a department, the division, and the college.

·        Considerable knowledge of college administration, policy and procedures; especially admissions, advisement, recruitment, enrollment management, financial aid functions and laws and regulations.

·        Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, administration, and community leaders.

 

Terms of Contract:  Executive position, full-time (12 months).  Hiring salary range is $80,000-$85,000.  Excellent benefit package provided (includes 14.2% contribution to TIAA/Cref retirement plan, family coverage medical insurance premium paid by college, and other benefits).
