POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Position: Dean of Library
Responsibilities:
·
Leads the development and administration of library resources, services,
and programs.
·
Leads the development of the library’s strategic plans and provides the
vision for the future of library services at Dixie State College in
coordination with the college’s strategic plan.
·
Fosters collaborative relationships with other institutions in the Utah
System of Higher Education to most effectively provide for the needs of a
growing campus with expanding degree offerings, including representation and
leadership in state and regional consortia and professional organizations.
·
Coordinates information resources and library services for all academic
programs.
·
Represents the library in campus administration activities, and Advances
the role of the library in promoting and increasing student learning.
·
Directs development of library’s collections, balancing traditional
research needs with new technologies.
·
Manages library facility and budgets, writes and administers grants,
prepares annual reports, and participates in academic accreditation efforts.
·
Recommends division faculty hiring, duties, advancement in rand, and
award of tenure.
·
Encourages and supports professional development activities for division
faculty and staff.
·
Provides vision and direction to complete the conversion of the Browning
Library from a community college library to a baccalaureate level library.
Qualifications:
·
Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library program.
·
Significant leadership experience in an undergraduate academic library.
·
Expertise in management and team development, including excellent collaboration
abilities and communications skills, both orally and written.
·
Considerable knowledge of budgeting in an academic environment and of
college personnel policies and procedures.
·
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of library science,
especially library-related issues in higher education.
·
Knowledge and experience initiating and directing strategic planning
processes.
·
Good knowledge of hardware and software computer systems used in the
library environment, including electronic library applications.
·
Demonstrated ability to act as an advocate for the library to a variety
of constituencies.
·
Ability to exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and
maintaining effective working relations with college community and other.
Terms of
Contract: Tenure track (12
months) faculty position. Salary is based on nationally
competitive Dixie State College faculty salary schedule. Excellent benefit package
included.
