POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

 

DIRECTOR OF ADVISEMENT AND COUNSELING

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·        Provides leadership for various offices and individuals including academic advising, graduation advising, the disability resource center, the wellness center, and the career center.

·        Engages in strategic planning, enrollment management, and retention initiatives.

·        Meets with students for advisement, graduation certification, and probation.

·        Arranges student and parent orientation programs.

·        Coordinates with faculty and other departments on campus as necessary.

·        Refers students to other agencies for assistance.

·        Approves budget expenditures for department.

·        Serves on various college committees.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

·        Master's degree preferred, Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Psychology, Ed. Admin, Student Personnel or related field.

·        Five years of related experience.

·        Management and supervision experience.

·        Knowledge of college and university administration.

·        Knowledge of budgeting in a college and university environment.

·        Knowledge of principles and practices in student advisement.

·        Knowledge of college admissions and registration procedures as well as financial aid programs, career information, graduation requirements, and ADA guidelines.

·        Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

·        Demonstrated ability to exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with students, employees and the public.

 

CONTRACT:  Full time (12 months) position.  Beginning Salary Range: $45,000 to $50,000 dependent upon qualifications and experience.  Excellent benefits.
