Single Student Housing
Your Housing Contract
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for on-campus housing, you must be a student currently enrolled at Dixie State College with a minimum of 9 credits. Any exceptions need to be approved by the Resident Life Director.
Term of Contract
The contractual agreement academic year schedule for family student housing begins the first of the month that fall semester classes start and is terminated at 12:00 noon 3 business days after commencement.
The contractual agreement academic year schedule for single student housing begins four days prior to the start of fall semester classes and is terminated at 12:00 noon on the day after commencement. The Residence Halls will remain open for the Winter break. If you will be returning for Spring Semester, there will be no rent charge for this period. However, there will be limited Food Service during this break. If a student does not return to housing for the Spring Semester, a $10 a day charge will be assessed. The Office will be closed when the campus is closed.
Contract Release
A student will be released from his or her Single Student Housing contract in the event of one of the following: Medical/Health, Military Service, Graduation Full-time ecclesiastical calling, or Marriage. Documentary evidence must be presented to the Office showing date of event is within our semester dates. If exempting circumstances fall on dates outside the academic year, buyout penalties will apply. Also an “Exception to Policy” form must be submitted for consideration of contract release.
College Withdrawal
Automatic forfeiture of Housing deposit.
There will be no refund of rent if withdrawal is dated after the third week of the semester or from date of move in whichever comes first. If withdrawal is dated before the third week, there will be a $200 buy out penalty, forfeit of deposit, along with charges for rent already used. If withdrawal is dated after the third week of the semester in the fall, no rent will be refunded, deposit will be forfeited, and a $200 buyout penalty will apply. If withdrawal is dated after the third week of the semester in the spring, no rent will be refunded. Any improper check out charges will apply. Policies require that students vacate their room within 72 hours of withdrawal from the College.
Other
If the room becomes uninhabitable due to fire or other casualty, any unused rent will be refunded along with the depositAny unused rent will be refunded along with the deposit.
A student who chooses to move out of the Residence Halls and remains enrolled at Dixie State College for more than 9 credits will be held to the full term of his or her housing contract. There is no contract buy-out for students who remain registered at the college.
