Requirements

After acceptance and prior to entrance, proof of the following immunizations is required: TB; MMR and booster; Tetanus; Hepatitis B # 1, 2, 3 and Hepatitis A as well as varicella (chicken pox vaccination). Copies of immunizations must be sent to our office by July 1st.

Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR with AED training and First Aid Certification needs to be completed and a copy of your cards sent to program secretary by July 1st.

A Laptop computer is required for our program. You may purchase one on your own with the SAME specs as below OR lease one through our college bookstore.

Dixie State College Bookstore offers a laptop computer lease program for Dixie State College students. We suggest a leasing program because it offers the best value and services at low cost and insures that the student has current hardware and software.
What is the cost?
$830 per year for a one academic school year lease and $510 per year for a two academic school year lease contract- Fall, Spring, and (Summer semester if required), yearly payment due at the beginning of the lease. At the end of the lease contract, the laptop may be purchased at fair market value.

What must I do to participate?
- Indicate your intent to participate in the program prior to receiving the laptop. Participation is done on a yearly basis with payments due before the beginning of each semester and/or upon receipt of the laptop.
- Complete a Laptop Lease Agreement available at the Bookstore -- Dixie State College, 225 S 700 E. St. George, UT 84770, Gardner Student Center, 2nd Floor.
- First Yearly Payment is due upon your receipt of the laptop.

What are the rules?
- The laptop you are leasing belongs to the College. You must keep it in working order. Breakage, damage, or failures must be reported to the Computer Center and repaired immediately.
- No unauthorized modifications may be made to the laptop hardware such as memory upgrades, component changes, etc. However, External peripherals can be connected.
- Laptops must be checked in at the Computer Center each term as instructed
- You may not change the configuration of the computer or add unauthorized software to it. If you do, the computer will be re-loaded with its original software, which may result in loss of your personal files.
- The laptop and all of its components must be returned to the Computer Center at the end of the spring term unless a summer lease is required.
- Any items not returned at the end of the lease will be charged to you at a pre-determined price.
Do I get to keep the laptop at the end of the lease?
No. However, at the end of your lease, you will have the option to purchase the laptop at a Fair Market Value as set by Dell.
Isn’t it cheaper to purchase?
Many services, including software upgrades and available loaner units, are not available with a purchased unit, so a direct "dollar comparison" is not applicable. The leasing model insures that a student has a current working laptop computer with campus-compatible software available to them consistently throughout their education without a considerable up-front cost.
