Program Description
- The DSC Dental Hygiene program is accredited by the American Dental Association, Commission on Dental Accreditation.
- DSC offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Dental Hygiene and a Bachelor of Science degree completion program.
- DSC Dental Hygiene students are instructed in the theoretical knowledge and clinical skills essential for dental hygiene practices. This includes anesthesia procedures and limited expanded functions.
- Upon graduation, the Dental Hygiene Student will be eligible to take the national board exam and any state or regional board exams they wish to take. These exams must be passed in order to receive a license to practice as a dental hygienist.
- This is a 2 year program (fall, spring, summer, fall, spring semesters).
- Approximately 20-24 new students are admitted each year.
- In addition to the regular student tuition and fees for DSC there is a lab fee which is associated with the clinical courses which covers clinical supplies and instruments need ed to complete the courses. The cost is subject to change each year.
- There is a non-refundable application fee of $50.00.
- Applications will be kept on file for two years only.
- At the present time, the Dental Hygiene department has no available scholarships for first year students. The deadline to apply for academic scholarships at Dixie State College is March 1. You may contact Financial Aid at (435)652-7575 for more information. There are some departmental scholarships available to second year students.
