About The Program
The
Federal Work-Study program was authorized and funded by the United
States congress in 1965 for students with documented need for help
with college expenses. FWS funds pay 75% of the student's earnings.
The remaining 25% is paid by DSC.
|
The UCOPE Work-Study program was authorized by the Utah Legislature in
1997 for students with documented need for help with college expenses.
UCOPE funds from the state pay one hundred percent of the students'
earnings.
At
Dixie State College, only the Office of Financial Assistance may award
Federal/UCOPE Work-Study funds to students.
|
|
FWS/UCOPE employment is part of
a student's financial aid package and cannot be awarded unless the
student has submitted a financial aid application and has documented
need. |
Because
of limited funds, students should apply for financial aid early if
they wish to qualify for Work-study. Applications should be submitted as soon
as possible after January 1 for the following school year.
Work-study awards are made on a first-come, first-served basis.
