Work-study Positions

    For the 2007-2008 school year, Dixie State College has approximately 92 positions available through the Federal and State Work-Study programs.

    These positions are employed on campus and through the Washington County School District. A number of the positions meet the requirements of the Department of Education for community service jobs. Community Service jobs are identified in this listing by an * after the job number.

    Dean's Office of Business, Technology and Health Occupations

    Job Description: Answer phones for division dean's office and for business department. Back up business department secretary as receptionist. Monitor tests, correct papers, data enter information, assist faculty in work they need prepared and distribute mail. Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications: Must have basic computer skills. WordPerfect, Microsoft Word and Excel. Need someone who loves to be around people, and who has had some experience in answering business phones. Flexible hours, except must be able to work between 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.

    Hurricane Education Center 01

    Job Description: This job is at the Hurricane Education Center. Will work in various areas including the computer lab, information resource room, office, and reception area. General office duties and computer work. Organization and maintenance of Information Resource room, setup of technical equpment, assist with meetings, projects, etc. Willingness to work in the afternoons and/or evenings. Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications: Good written and verbal communication skills, able to work independently, able to operate technical equipment. Word processing and filing skills. Knowledge of IBM computers (Mac optional). Knowledge of Mirosoft Word and Excel. Willngness to learn operation of fax machines, scanner, projector, flex cam, and smart board.

    Intramural Ref/Score Keeper

    Job Description: Attend weekly Intramural Staff meeting. In charge of field management (setup/clean up.) Take part in advertising to student and faculty. Know the rules of each event/tournament/game that you work at.

    Qualifications: Must be dependable, have the maturity, integrity and a high-level of character when officiating and scorekeeping an activity. Exhibit good public relation skills at all times. Ability to communicate, take directions, show initiative and work well with others is a must. Must have at least high school or college experience in athletics or intramural sports.

    Job Description: Assist with costume construction, repair, cleaning and storage; Occasionally help back stage during Dixie College Theater Productions; Occasional evening and weekend work required; Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications: Ability to sew and do fabric type crafts. Experience with a sewing machine preferred. Ability to work independently and good verbal communications skills a must.
