Education and experience
I attended Dixie Junior College (now Dixie State College) when there were approximately 300 students. I graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Arts in English and began attending graduate school there.
My studies were interrupted by a stint in the army, including 13 months n Vietnam. I resumed graduate studies at BYU, where I received a Masters in Recreation Education (MRE) with an emphasis in Community Education, and an MA in English Literature.
In 1976, I began teaching at Dixie College. At Dixie, I have taught ESL classes, composition, humanities, folklore, ethics, and a variety of literature classes. I served twice as president of the Dixie College Faculty Senate. In 1999, I delivered the Alder Faculty Honor lecture on the uses and misuses of humor. During the 2007-08 school year, I was selected as Faculty Member of the Year by students and faculty. At the beginning of the 2008-09 school year, I was awarded the Faculty Excellent Award.
